Italy has countless excellent wines, but a lot fewer that fit all the criteria we set out to import: predominantly native grape varieties<\/strong>, sustainable and responsible farming<\/strong>, small-scale production<\/strong>, and minimum intervention<\/strong>. We also look for winemakers who are personally involved<\/strong> in all aspects of the process: from working in the vineyards to harvesting, handling all cellar operations, marketing, and distributing the final product interacting directly with end customers. They are passionate<\/strong> about their work and are committed to making wines that reflect the terroir and the authenticity<\/strong> of the region.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In the beginning<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Marco and Cristina Doria decided in December 2020 to go into business together and start a wine importing company, but before that, their childhood in Italy began their wine journey.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

Their parents taught them the importance of relationships, family, and friends. Their mom connected with people through cooking, while their dad brought everyone together with his positivity, energy, and jokes. They came to associate food, people, and wine with happiness.<\/strong><\/p>

Growing up in Piemonte provided access to some of the world\u2019s finest wine regions like Barolo, but wine was never about appellations, ratings, or tasting notes. It was simply part of daily life\u2014always on the table, shared with family and friends, and often accompanied by unexpected guests staying for dinner.<\/strong><\/p>

After working in the financial world all our adult lives, we figured entrepreneurship, especially in the wine business, was going to be a relief and so much fun… at least more fun than finance! Pretty much right away, though, reality sank in and it became clear we had a lot to learn and do before we could even get to taste any wines. <\/p>

It took months, if not years, to understand the wine industry and regulation in the United States, and how best to immerse with it, but navigating these challenges by making connections with distributors, purveyors, and other importers along the way helped grow Doria Wines to what it is today. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
